Human Genetics
Shahrekord University of Medical Sciences
Program Introduction
Program Introduction
Human Genetics is a branch of biomedical science that investigates the structure, function, and variation of human chromosomes and genes. The field encompasses several areas, including genetic engineering, immunogenetics, population genetics, cancer genetics, behavioral genetics, and biochemical genetics. Graduates of the master's program acquire the knowledge and skills needed to perform genetic analyses and identify certain chromosomal and genetic disorders.
The M.Sc. program in Human Genetics combines coursework with research activities to develop students’ theoretical knowledge, practical abilities, and communication skills across the broad fields of human and medical genetics, with particular emphasis on molecular aspects. The program aims to equip students with the skills to apply molecular genetics and cytogenetics techniques to educational and research challenges and to support the provision of relevant laboratory services.
Students are also encouraged to strengthen their analytical, scientific writing, and presentation skills; integrate knowledge gained through coursework with their research projects; and disseminate their findings through scientific publications in the field of Human Genetics.
Specific Competencies and Skills:
Upon completion of the program, students are expected to demonstrate the ability to:
-
Participate effectively in student seminars and lectures, and prepare lecture handouts.
-
