The School of Medicine at Shahrekord University of Medical Sciences was established in 1986 with the admission of 110 medical students. Since 1987, it has operated independently as the first faculty of Shahrekord University of Medical Sciences, continuing its educational mission. Currently, the School admits medical students in two academic semesters each year.
The School comprises several administrative and academic divisions, including the Basic Sciences Education Office, General Medicine Education Office, Clinical Education Office, Administrative and Financial Affairs Office, and the Research Affairs Office.
In addition to the Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) program, the School offers a variety of postgraduate programs, including M.Sc. degrees in Parasitology, Microbiology, Human Genetics, Biochemistry, and Immunology. It also provides residency training programs in Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Orthopedic Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, General Surgery, and Anesthesiology.
At present, the School is supported by more than 110 full-time faculty members specializing in both basic medical sciences and clinical disciplines.
The School is home to several active research facilities, including the Cellular and Molecular Research Center, the Medicinal Plants Research Center, the Biochemistry Research Center, as well as nine educational and research laboratories and a modern anatomy dissection hall, providing extensive resources for education and scientific research.
