Message from the President of Shahrekord University of Medical Sciences on the Occasion of World Health Day
The World Health Organization’s theme for this year, “Together for Health: Standing with Science,” underscores science as the fundamental basis for addressing emerging global health challenges, including antimicrobial resistance, climate change, non-communicable diseases, and the risk of potential pandemics.
In the message issued by Dr. Salehi-Fard, President of Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari University of Medical Sciences and Health Services, it is stated:
The World Health Organization’s theme for this year, “Together for Health: Standing with Science,” emphasizes science as the cornerstone for confronting emerging health challenges such as antimicrobial resistance, climate change, non-communicable diseases, and the threat of possible pandemics.
The genuine realization of this global theme is not achievable without safeguarding health from politicization, sanctions, and military threats.
Recent damage to civilian infrastructure and healthcare facilities, along with the loss of lives among civilians and healthcare personnel, demonstrates that the security of health systems and sustained access to medicines, medical equipment, and scientific knowledge must not be used as instruments of pressure or political conflict.
The efforts of health and treatment networks to deliver science-based services to the most remote areas, the expansion of screening programs, immunization initiatives, and increased attention to mental health are successful examples of applying science at the level of primary health care.
At the conclusion of the message, Dr. Salehi-Fard extended his sincere congratulations on the occasion of the 18th of Farvardin (April 7), World Health Day, to all fellow citizens of the province, faculty members, researchers, and the tireless contributors to the health sector—particularly the pioneers on the front lines of public health, including community health workers, health care providers, public health experts, family physicians, and the heads of county health and treatment networks.
