History
School of Medicine
The School of Medicine at Shahrekord University of Medical Sciences was established in 1986, marking the beginning of medical education at the university with the admission of its first cohort of 110 medical students. In 1987, the School became an independent academic unit and continued its educational activities as the first school of Shahrekord University of Medical Sciences.
Over the years, the School of Medicine has expanded its academic programs and educational capacities. In addition to the Doctor of Medicine (MD) program, the School currently offers postgraduate programs in several disciplines, including Master of Science (MSc) programs in Parasitology, Medical Microbiology, Human Genetics, Biochemistry, and Immunology. It also offers residency programs in Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Orthopedic Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, General Surgery, and Anesthesiology.
The School has developed a comprehensive academic structure encompassing the offices of basic medical sciences education, general and clinical medical education, research, and administrative and financial affairs. More than 110 full-time faculty members are currently engaged in teaching, research, and academic activities across the basic and clinical medical sciences. The School of Medicine has also strengthened its research and educational infrastructure through the establishment of research centers in cellular and molecular research, medicinal plants, and biochemistry. Its academic facilities further include nine specialized laboratories and an anatomy dissection hall, providing essential resources for medical education and research.
Today, the School of Medicine continues to advance its educational and research missions by developing academic programs, strengthening its research capacity, and fostering an environment conducive to high-quality medical education, scientific inquiry, and innovation.
