According to the latest results of the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2025, Shahrekord University of Medical Sciences (SKUMS) has earned a prestigious position among 2,526 universities from 130 countries, recognized for its contributions toward achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In this respected global ranking, SKUMS achieved:

A global rank in the 1001–1500 band

Ranked 16th among all universities in Iran

Ranked 8th among Iranian medical universities

Key highlights of the university’s performance across selected SDG indicators are as follows:

Gender Equality (SDG 5):

Ranked 1st among medical universities in Iran

Ranked 2nd among all Iranian universities (following Alzahra University)

Placed in the 101–200 band globally

Good Health and Well-Being (SDG 3):

Ranked 7th among Iranian medical universities

Ranked 7th among all universities in Iran

Placed in the 101–200 band globally

Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure (SDG 9):

Ranked 6th among Iranian medical universities

Ranked 23rd among all Iranian universities

Placed in the 801–1000 band globally

Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17):

Ranked 13th among Iranian medical universities

Ranked 29th among all universities in Iran

Placed in the 1501  band globally

It is worth noting that the THE Impact Rankings assess universities based on their social, environmental, and educational impact, with a special focus on their role in supporting the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Unlike traditional rankings that emphasize academic reputation and research excellence, the Impact Rankings evaluate broader contributions such as quality education, health outcomes, environmental protection, innovation, energy management, and inclusive economic growth.

In only its second year of participation, SKUMS improved its national standing from 17th place in 2024 to 16th place in 2025, reflecting its growing commitment to sustainable development.
