Prospective undergraduate students seeking to begin their academic journey at SKUMS are invited to apply. Before completing the online application form, applicants must ensure that they meet the required qualifications and have prepared all essential documents.

SKUMS accepts applications from graduates of accredited high schools, colleges, or universities. Both oral and written English proficiency are required. Preference is given to applicants with strong academic performance, particularly in Biology, Chemistry (General, Inorganic, Organic), and Physics. Applicants must be at least 17 years old in the year of application.

Required Documents

  1. Academic Records
Applicants must provide official transcripts from all previously attended institutions.
While there is no minimum GPA requirement, competitive applicants typically hold a GPA of 3.00 or higher.
  2. Secondary School Diploma or Equivalent
A certified copy of the School Leaving Certificate and a complete record of subjects and grades are required. Reports must include all graded results from the entire study period.
  3. Curriculum Vitae (CV)
Including personal details, educational background, and relevant work or extracurricular experience.
  4. Cover Letter
Indicating the specific program the applicant intends to pursue.
  5. Passport Copy

English Language Requirements

Applicants must provide official evidence of English proficiency:

  • TOEFL PBT: 525
  • TOEFL iBT: 69
  • IELTS: 5.5

Exemptions may apply to:

  • Applicants from native English-speaking countries
  • Applicants from countries where English is the official language
  • Applicants who have completed at least two recent years of full-time education entirely in English (official certification required)

Applicants who do not meet the minimum language requirements may still apply. If admitted, they will take a placement test upon arrival. Those who do not meet the required proficiency must complete English language courses (136 hours, the cost of language classes is in addition to the annual tuition fee). Additional courses may be required if proficiency remains insufficient.

Failure to reach the required English level after the permitted period will result in withdrawal of admission.

Persian Language Requirements

Persian proficiency is not required for admission to international programs in M.D., M.B.B.S. However, since communication with patients during clinical training requires Persian, students must acquire adequate skills in speaking, reading, and writing during the Basic Science Stage.

  • Students take a Persian placement test upon arrival.
  • Up to 272 hours of mandatory Persian language instruction will be provided.
  • If the student does not meet minimum proficiency requirements, additional Persian courses (at the student’s expense) will be required.

The primary language of instruction during the Basic Science Stage is English, but Persian proficiency is mandatory before entering clinical phases.

For other undergraduate programs, Persian language requirements vary by field. Applicants will be informed of program-specific requirements via email.

  • Iranian citizens and dual Iranian nationals cannot apply to the SUMS International Students Committee (ISC) and must take the National Entrance Examination (Konkur).
  • Each academic year has 2 semesters and a summer break. Fall and winter semesters start in September and February, respectively.
  • Single undergraduate students are provided with fully furnished dormitories or apartments, including Wi-Fi, utilities, and TV.
  • All documents must be in Persian or English; documents in other languages must first be translated into English.
  • For undergraduate applications, only high school documents are required. Applicants with university degrees must also submit their high school diploma and transcripts. Applications missing high school records will not be considered.
