The Ophthalmologist and Cornea Transplantation Fellowship, Dr. Saeed Raeisi, announced the successful completion of the first corneal stem cell transplant at Seyyed-o-Shohada Hospital in Farsan.

Explaining this news, Dr. Raeisi stated that there are four different ways to transplant corneal stem cells. Since only one of this patient’s eyes was burned with chemicals, stem cells from the healthy eye were removed and transplanted to the damaged cornea.

He added: "This operation was successfully performed for a 55-year-old man at Seyyed-o-Shohada Hospital in Farsan."

Besides, Dr. Raeisi said that after the examinations, the patient was discharged in good general condition and will be treated with medicine and drops in the next few weeks.
